Pitten Festival Travel Planning

Getting to and from Austria

YouImage of students on the plane are responsible for your own travel arrangements.  The Festival has an agent, however, who understands your needs for the Festival, and who can book your travel there, or tailor a more extensive trip that includes the Festival. Orientation in Pitten is Thursday, July 24. If you are traveling from the U.S., plan to fly on Wednesday, July 23. Closing Ceremonies and the Final Concert are Sunday, August 10.  Departure from Austria will be on Monday, August 11. You are responsible for overnight stays and meals outside the dates and locations of the Festival.  For help with your travel arrangements, call Deb at Goodspeed & Bach, Inc.  (888) 446-1789.

Music and Scores

Festival managers will assure that each participant has a folder of ensemble music well in advance of the Festival. Choristers are expected to be familiar with each piece on arrival in Pitten. Solo singers should bring the scores they need as well as copies for accompanists. Pianists and horn players should also bring the music they need.

Clothing and Supplies

Festival managers will provide a checklist of details to help you plan your clothing and housekeeping needs. In general, plan for weather that is both hot and cool, wet and dry. Bring a collapsible umbrella and a raincoat. If you swim, bring your swim suit because the municipal pool is wonderful!Image of happy students at a banquet All necessary supplies can be purchased or replaced in Pitten.
